Conservadorismo na educação
análise a partir da orientação à dominância social e ao autoritarismo

The rise of the far-right and conservative agendas can be understood as a global phenomenon, with repercussions in education. In Brazil, discussions such as "school without party" and the defense of the civic-military model are examples of the growth of conservatism in education. This study aimed to analyze conservatism through the lenses of social dominance orientation and right-wing authoritarianism, constructs used to assess and interpret conservative positions in social research. To achieve this, we conducted a study with 629 students who completed the social dominance orientation scale, right-wing authoritarianism scale, a political opinion measure, and provided sociodemographic data. Overall, using the metrics of social dominance and right-wing authoritarianism, we identified high levels of conservatism among the students. These levels were independent of students' gender, income, age, and political interest. We posit that the high degree of conservatism among students can be explained by both internal factors related to attacks on education in the country and contextual factors related to the rise of conservative thinking in different countries.
