Abstract

Os sindicatos docentes estão trabalhando em tempos difíceis. Assim, é importante que construam poder para resistir às reformas neoliberais que têm visado reestruturar a educação escolar e enfraquecer a organização coletiva. No entanto, temos pouca compreensão do projeto de democratização em que os sindicatos docentes se engajaram para construir e renovar o poder interno nesse ambiente. Com base no estudo de caso de uma experiência bem-sucedida de democracia sindical docente na Austrália, este artigo destaca a importância de forjar estruturas e processos democráticos coordenados e liderados por membros que promovam a voz coletiva, bem como de se engajar numa renovação contínua, a fim de construir e manter o poder interno num ambiente neoliberal.
